LAKE COUNTY RODEO ANNOUNCER 2010
Right from the arena, across the United States, up and down the back roads, dirt
roads, side roads, to rodeos in one horse towns to indoor shows. From getting throwed down, knocked
down, mauled around, and just plain hanging around! With almost 37 years experience in the sport
of rodeo, starting with riding rough stock including bareback, saddle bronc, and bull riding.
In 1974 Ted turned to the baggy pants and football cleats as a rodeo clown and
bull fighter working about 35 shows per year for about ten years. While working as a bullfighter in 1984 at a rodeo in Hill
City, Kansas, a bull from the Dorenkamp Rodeo Company called Frontier Airlines ended that career.
Ted’s love for the sport kept him involved, working for the Professional
Rodeo Cowboys Association in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Then Ted moved on to Flying U Rodeo Company where he worked as a
public relations promoter.
In 1994 Ted got started announcing rodeos and he is now announcing about 40 rodeos
per year in 8 western states and Canada. Ted has been the official announcer for several years at the C.C.P.RA. finals rodeo.
Announcing rodeos keeps him pretty busy and when he’s not at a rodeo he is probably out on his horse working cattle.
Traveling with Ted to some of the rodeos this year is Ted’s hero(every cowboy
needs a hero) his son and side kick Michael. Michael wants to be a cowboy just like dad.
